CONGRATULATIONS

to our 2025 Grant Winner

Meeting Meaning in Islam is the 2025 Voices Canada Community Project Grant recipient. This

4-session virtual therapy program supports adults in Ontario healing from religious trauma, centering 2SLGBTQIAP+ and BIPOC individuals with lived experience of Islam. The program creates an affirming, community-rooted space where Queer Muslims can reconnect with faith, identity, and one another.

By pairing trauma-informed therapy with culturally grounded care, Meeting Meaning in Islam offers a pathway toward belonging, healing, and self-determination.

Celebrating our 2024

Grant Winners

Food As Medicine is a heartfelt initiative rooted in the work of Leading in Colour and brought to life by a trio of incredible women—Serisha Iyar (South African), Rose-Ingrid Benjamin (Haitian), and Janet Akins (Nigerian). These Eldest Immigrant Daughters connected through shared experiences of navigating parentified roles in their families and their work as advocates for racial equity. Together, they envisioned a space where racialized women like them could gather, heal, and build solidarity. Supported by Leading in Colour, this initiative is creating a powerful network in Ottawa for racialized women and femmes aged 20-40, fostering cultural exchange, storytelling, and collective growth.
